The Stratford Veterans Museum at Boothe Memorial Park, next to the Putney Chapel, is open Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays or other days by appointment. Stop by during the hours below to share your story of service (or the story of someone you know), to let us know of any items you’d like to donate/loan to the museum, or to just take a quick look around.

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter available on site by appointment. Please email us your request to schedule a visitation.

Student Class Trip Fact Sheet

At the Stratford Veterans Museum, students will learn about their town’s history and the stories of Stratford veterans through a guided tour and interactive activities.

The museum is housed in a two-story historic homestead located at Boothe Memorial Park. The first floor is handicapped accessible including an accessible restroom.

Field trips can be arranged for during the school day. Available dates will be provided to the Stratford School District's calendar.

The duration of the tour is approximately two (2) hours.

The museum will provide you with a Durham Bus Fact Sheet. In addition, the Stratford Veterans Museum will offer grants to cover 50 percent towards bus costs.

You will be contacted by a museum representative upon the submission of the Class Trip Application. The application has fillable fields. Compete the form, save it to your desktop as a copy to yourself and also email it to the Stratford Veterans Museum.

Stratford veterans and museum volunteers will conduct the tours.

The Stratford Veterans Museum can accommodate three (3) groups of ten (10) students per visiting group. Each group must be accompanied by a teacher/chaperone at all times.

What to expect when your group visits the Stratford Veterans Museum:

First Floor

  • Exhibit Room – A chronological history of Stratford and our veterans
  • Blue Star Room – Photos of Stratford veterans
  • Display of uniforms and medals

Second Floor

  • Introduction/review of museum in our historic classroom
  • Gold Star Room – Remembering Stratford veterans who gave their lives in war.

Patio and Lower Level

  • Mural designed and painted by Bunnell High School Art Students
  • Replica World War One Trench
  • Flight Simulator
  • Touch Table of Military Personnel Equipment and Combat Gear
